What makes a good school or coaching centre logo

An education logo is used for years and in more places than most business logos: on the gate signboard, the school badge on uniforms, student ID cards, admit cards, certificates and mark sheets, exam papers, banners for admission season, the Facebook page and YouTube channel, and as a small favicon on the website. A good one is clear in all of them. It reads well from the road, still works when it is printed tiny on an ID card, and looks right in one colour on a rubber stamp or a photocopied notice.

Many schools and madrasas like a crest or emblem with a book, a torch, a pen or a motto. That can look dignified on a certificate, but fine details and small text disappear on a badge or a profile picture. Ask designers for a main version and a simpler one for small sizes. Colour sets the mood: navy, maroon and dark green feel serious and traditional, while bright blue, orange and yellow feel friendly and suit kindergartens, coaching centres and online courses. Tell designers the feeling you want parents and students to have.

Most institutions in Bangladesh write their name in both Bangla and English, and some also use an Arabic name or verse. Say in your brief which name should be bigger, how it should be spelt, and whether the year of founding or a motto should be part of the logo. A short name or initials are easier to read as an app icon or on a YouTube channel, so mention it if you teach online.
